I do, to an extent. I prefer to get the low-fat or low-sodium versions of things, I put flaxseed/coconut/germ mix in my morning smoothie, I opt for stevia/splenda when I can, and when I can remember to I have a multivitamin. While I don't count calories or grams of things, I generally make an effort to keep my food low-sodium and low-sugar mostly, opt for cooking fresh/frozen rather than canned/prepared, and I honestly don't have much of an appetite for salty/fatty/sweet things most of the time anymore.

But I also believe most 'organic/natural' things are a money grab with minimal benefits, that GMOs are neither new nor definitively bad, and most food is fine to eat as long as you limit/proportion right and make good choices. I eat meat/dairy because I have no health reasons not to. I believe in well-studied health and don't tend to buy into most fads or targeted diets. (e.g.: those with celiac very well should stay away from gluten, but those who cut it out for other reasons are usually just buying into a load of bull.) That philosophy holds through most of my beliefs.

good lord reading my own post I really need to cut down on the / usage...

(also I will add that I DO buy organic eggs since they boil better and bananas since they last longer - and if organic is the same or similar price as non-, I'll usually take it.)

I aim to eat a lot of healthy, organic foods. Once you know how to make it right, it's sooooooo much more delicious than fast food or garbage food. I literally get sick when I eat fast food nowadays. I still have sweet goodies and some of the garbage food too, just have a good balance. Thanks to this system, I never had to watch my weight or look at how many calories something had or anything. I love it. :D

To be fair it isnt all about a good system. I have celiac disease, an Auto Immune disease where I cannot eat gluten. Usually I can avoid it, but some social situations make it hard like holidays, parties, even just a night out to dinner. Even eating a single slice of bread can make me gain 5lbs of inflammation and water overnight. I have had it happen many times.

In June 2015 I was 160lbs, but I had to undergo the second confirmation test and thus was required to eat gluten everyday for 12 weeks! I went up to 250 before the exam and I am still detoxing, manonths later getting all that shit out of me.

So I agree it is a choice for most... but not all. Just 1/8 of a teaspoon of gluten (or milk lol ) has me in the bathroom all night. Cutting out milk, shellfish, pork and gluten while keeping meals nutrionally balanced and interesting is harder when your choices are already limited.

Not to mention a lot of 20/30 somethings have zero idea how to cook. That can be fixed if they are not lazy amd had access to more affordable good real food.

Eh, not really. There are seasons when I have an idea of eating something healthy and cooking only veggies. And then there's the garbage food season.

I take vitamins and fish oil pills and try to watch my diet, but I don't go overboard with organic and supplements.

I have to take iron supplements because of a natural iron deficiency and I sometimes (not often) take vitamin supplements. other than that, I try to eat healthy during large meals but I don't eat a lot of healthy snacks.

I take prescribed Vitamin D because of genetics, to put it simply. My mom used to have us kiddos take a Vitamin C supplement and some otehr supplements.

My mother's a health nut for sure. I have lots of stories for that XD But, I am definitely not. While I do work out and eat pretty well, I definitely like me some crud food.

I take a multivitamin, Magnesium, and Vitamin D as supplements. I also drink a probiotic.

And then eating healthy in general helps me cope with stress much better, which allows me to stay motivated and on task. I'm not a calorie counter or anything by any means though (I look at ingredients way more than I care for the nutritional chart). I am also not afraid to indulge in the occasional junkfood... I just don't...really like it anymore.

There's really a lot of reasons why I try to maintain this lifestyle as best I can. A lot of the companies are small businesses, a lot of it is environmental conscientiousness, I cannot afford the doctor and so have to be as preventative as possible, stress coping and anxiety reducing effects...it's all worked really well for me. :'D

Oh good, I'm not the only who just doesn't care for junk food anymore? I didn't know if it was just me or if it was because of generally eating healthy taking the desire out of indulging in junk food. Hehe

Yeah! I don't know what happened because I used to be crazy for the stuff.

I stopped eating (as) poorly nearly 3 years ago, and went pretty diet-conscious for about 4 months straight, then eased up and found out that a lot of the stuff I liked before...I just don't care for anymore.

:/ I've even had adverse reactions to some foods now.
